I occasionally catch northern flying squirrels in my marten sets. As there is no market for them most folks around here just toss them in the box for bait. They seem to have nice fur though ...
Does anyone know how they tan? Do they produce useable fur or is it just garbage? If it can be used I'll keep the few I catch and make something nice for myself.

Glaucomys sabrinus is the name and sabrinus is named of the River in England and another river name with HBC Fort Severn at its mouth flowing into the bay,,,, soft and silky
the skins do tan well but are brittle when done.
They are long lived and I handled one and de-flead it 40 times over a 3 year period. My study ended then.
