Most pickle solutions state, on average, that the furs stay in the solution for a given period of time. Lets say for the sake of this question from 72 to 96 hours. Can you leave them in longer without fear of damage, or MUST they be taken out within that time frame. |

Wabush should have more detail..the hair slips after a certain time...giving you rawhide |

If you keep an eye on the ph I have left skins in the pickle for 2 weeks and had no problems. |

Yes it is the ph level rising that causes the pelt to deteriorate.As long as the ph is lower than 2 you can leave it in.If you don't have a ph tester you will know by the smell when it has been left too long,or if the ph has risen above 2.If you notice a sour smell,take the pelt out right away and tan it. |

Once you smell that sour smell it's too late The bacteria has attacked the hide some where and slip will occur |
