I have brain tanned fox, squirrels and deer hides. The deer hide I soaked and ringed out. The other hides I rubbed the brain into the hid and raped the hide in a warm towel. I like the brain tanning method.

Hello I have a question about smoking after you brain tan. Doesn't the hide stink like smoke really bad afterward? And if so is there a way to take some of the smell away? Thanks.

Interesting might have to try on a squirrel or two.

I was lucky enough to be taught how to March brain tan moose hide. I never expected to be a trapper as an adult so had no access to furs to try tanning that way with fur on.

Add it to my to do list.

Just got myself a good Martin line so I am keeping back any damaged furs to practice tanning on. Have 1 chewed neck, one too pale and one caugh too warm.

Good for practice and my average 2015 sale mid 90's so it might be good plan.
