Anyone know who to contact to get beavers tanned for a decent price. I have sent a few through a taxidermist I know when he ships bears in to be done, but whoever he uses charges a flat $50 per beaver, which I think it is a bit high.

Well that was no great deal. Depending on size it would be from$40-$55 per hide PLUS a 10% environmental fee (water and chemicals). Oh joy, ANOTHER environmental fee.

Go to Mudry Moderne's site. They are a large tannery in Montreal. You will see on their site that the cost for wet tanning of beaver the cost is
small $18. medium $ 30 and large $ 36.
I have used them and am very satisfied with the quality of the tanning. The only problem with them is that it takes approx. 4 months to get the hides back.

Thanks for the info, but then I would have to pay for an export permit and shipping. I doubt I would save anything after the extra expenses.

Oh well.

I just receive a lynx and a beaver from Mudry and modern, and i'm very satisfied. It cost me 45$ for the beaver and 54$ for the lynx. I compare with other beaver and lynx tan in other place, and my furs look better and softer!

Hi, I live up in Ashern. Here's a real Simple Solution to all this. Learn to do it yourself!! Its not hard, you just flesh the animal out, then you put Non Iodized Salt (pickling salt) on it and dry it out. Then Spread a Tanning Soultion on. You Can Order the Tanning Formula from a Place in Winnipeg Called "Western Wrahide" I believe its called. Here's the link to they're tanning solution. It has Direction's on the Back. And P.S. You Don't Need the White Gas like it says. Thats just another un-needed expence!

Unfortunatly I can't Find it. But here, you call them and ask about it:
