So, I acquired a deer hide that was not fleshed, but covered in salt for about 6 months. Of course it is like cardboard and the fat is hard and sinewy.

Curious how to recover this hide if possible ? maybe soak it for a day or 2 and go from there ?

Rehydrate it in water with couple lbs of salt It won'\t be couple days maybe couple hours . As soon a s the hide is soft pull it flesh it and start the tan process before the bacteria gets started to o badly. and causes slip.

Tnx ... was pretty sure it can be salvaged, at very least the hide itself if the hair is a loss
