I have a fellow that I made contact with here in Manitoba. Lives 1/2 hr from me.
He's a professional tanner used to work for BC Tannery's and a fellow trapper as well.
I have a huge contract to get beaver hides tanned and other animals and he's my man.
I am not sure what he's gonna charge for dogs.
As anything, there are savings in volume.
The more pelts he does at one time the cheaper the costs.
Nothing is stopping you from getting together with others and making a bundle up sending it to him and getting your product tanned all together
He'll also considering making items such as fur coats and hats among other things.
He's also in the process of making European mounts for the skulls of the animals, of which I supply.
I am considering getting a 3/4 length wolf coat made in which I catch the animal and see it through from start to finish.
I got a price from another fellow and he charges $22.50 per square ft to tan beaver blankets.
If you or others are interested in getting some tanning done or buying some animal mounts head or full, let me know and will pass your requests on to him.
God Bless

22.50 per square foot seams very expensive to me for tanning beaver. There must be 4 feet squared in an XL maybe more thats 90$ plus for each skin.
Ive had a number of beaver done garment quality for 50$, just saying

Let be real clear here the $22.50 quote was from a guy in Alberta NOT my guy herein Manitoba.

I too thought $22.50 was high.

Not sure if it made it or not but in Elliot Lake there was a couple who were trying to start a tannery and taxidermy. The wife was a trapper and the husband was going to run the shop. Apparently you can't run one and be a trapper so they were trying to do whatever legal mumbo jumbo was needed to try and get it up and running with the help of the local council.

Maybe someone else can chime in with more info on this.
