Post subject:  snowshoe protection ?

I have a pair of snowshoes that were hanging on the wall about a year and am wondering if I can use either varnish or varathane or even polyuerathane? I heard that its one of the three I mentioned and am interested in learning of the proper procedure that I would use to do this. Thank you

Whuts , I'm a little late answering your post but I'm new to the forums . Anyway ,I had a pair of snowshoes that a lot of the protective coating was comming off ,so I decided to put the varathaine to them I put a coat on every morning for 4 or 5 days and that worked good . Varathaine is liquid plastic . It worked fine for me .

Varnish works well also. I use spar varnish. Put a coat on and let dry a couple of days and then apply a second coat.

Dang I posted yesterday but the board gods forgot to enter it.

Anyway in my younger years I cruised a lot of timber in the winter on snowshoes. What we used to use was orange shellac. Varnish back then seemed to dry too hard and crack under use.
