August 2011 News Letter
President’s Report
Hi all,
Hope your year is going well. We have been busy and have some news to share.
We had our AGM in Moncton this year. We have nine provinces on board and
supporting the CNTA at this time so that is a huge climb from the few we had
last year. Our membership is continuing to grow and we have some news later
for you on this. Also many trappers’ councils are sponsoring there members
and this is greatly appreciated. The membership has been lowered to $20 as
well.
We are currently working toward a magazine and would like it out before the
end of the fall so if you have an article for it, this would be a good time
to get it to Marshall or myself. We cannot guarantee that all will be
printed but please send them in any way. It would be great to have too many
then we would have some for the future magazines. Also if you have a non
commercial ad please also send it in as MEMBERS will be free for this
section. It will be a great way for you to reach out to trappers across
Canada. If you have a commercial ad, we have rates for that too. Please
contact myself for those rates.
We have had three major prizes donated for our membership drive. So every
one that is a member will be eligible for the draw, plus every member that
gets a new member will have their name dropped in the bucket for additional
chances to win. The draw will be this coming spring so get as many to sign
up as possible. Make sure your name is attached to the membership form the
new member sends in. We have so far, an elk hunt in Alberta, a Father and
Son Hunt in Ontario, A fishing trip in Ontario and a Fishing Charter on in
PEI. We also hope to ad smaller prizes to the list. This will all be in the
magazine.

Membership
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is now the end of July and there are many who have not yet renewed their
membership for 2011-2012. If you have not, now is the time as we need your
support to keep working for you and all trappers in Canada. Most all
Province have renewed, I will not be sending an other notice.
Thank you all for your support,
Marshall Christie
Send renewal to this address:
CNTA, C/O Marshall Christie, 1016 Route 111, Rowley
NB E2S 2E4
Membership is $20.00 a year as of July 1st, 2011. Anyone that has paid
$25.00 for 2011-2012 membership the $5.00 will be credited to next year
2012-2013 membership.
We will not be sending Cap's out as it cost to much to sent one cap. If your
Council wants to buy a group of caps, let me know and we will come to a
price. Thank you.
We will still ship T-Shirt at the same cost.
AGM
At our AGM there was quite a lot of discussion around what our focus in the
near future needs to be. One of the main issues discussed was that we need
to push the governments to manage furbearers instead of waiting until they
become nuisance animals and then treated as a disposable resource.
We will be approaching government in the near future with this as an issue
and the fact that we are the only national organization that represents only
trappers and with that we need to be at the table any time that fur bearers
are discussed for whatever reason.
As we have grown over the past couple of years and continue to do so we
thank you, the members, for your continued support and suggestions as we get
this organization up and running.
Thanks
The Executive CNTA

The CNTA needs your support,
and Trappers need the CNTA!
The Canadian National Trappers Alliance, with a founding membership composed of provincial and territorial trapper associations, came into being on June 12 and 13, 1996. The CNTA brings together those associations formerly represented by the CTF and the Trappers Alliance; together, we will be much stronger.
The Canadian National Trappers Alliance is the only National trapping organization in Canada. The aim of the Alliance is to promote the welfare of Canadian trappers, and maintain and enhance the heritage of the wild fur industry as a sustainable resource.
